Job Description:

Camelot Education, a leader in providing special education services, is recruiting Teaching Assistants for our Therapeutic Day Schools in Bourbonnais, IL.

Camelot Education at Bourbonnais provides services for children, adolescents and young adults, ages 3 through 21 with extraordinary needs. Our multi-needs program focuses on the development of functional life skills, with an emphasis on vocational programming and our Social and Emotional Disorder program offers supportive classrooms and a positive peer culture model for students with both externalizing and internalizing behaviors. A multi-disciplinary team develops IEP goals based on data collection through informal and formal assessment results. Treatment plans are completely individualized and incorporate research-based strategies and therapies.

We are seeking caring individuals with a desire to help students achieve their goals to join our team.

Teaching Assistants work closely with the classroom teacher to ensure that individualized programs are being followed and progress towards IEP goals is met and may serve as a substitute teacher. Teaching Assistants also will work with students on an individual basis providing academic and behavioral support to students in a therapeutic manner. The Teaching Assistant will provide crisis intervention and support as needed.

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or Human Service field
  • IL Substitute Teacher License (formerly known as a Type 39 certificate)
  • Experience working in a school setting preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills
