Job Description:

Camelot Education, a leader in providing special education services, is recruiting creative, compassionate and caring individuals to join our team. We are seeking a School Therapist for our Northwest Center for Autism located in DeKalb, IL. This program serves students PreK-21 and provides quality academic and therapeutic services to students with Developmental Disabilities including Autism. Students are supported by a team of professionals that include School Administrators, Special Education Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Paraprofessionals, Therapist and Related Services.

The School Therapist will provide individual, group, and family services as indicated on the student's IEP. The School Therapist works closely with teaching staff to ensure that behavior plans are being followed and that the student is progressing towards their goals and will also provide crisis intervention when needed. The social worker maintains frequent contact with parents/guardians as well as school district representatives.

Experience and Skills:

  • A Master's degree in Social Work or related degree from an accredited University
  • Current Illinois professional license either LSW, LCSW, LPC, LCPC or Illinois Professional Educator License (previously known as Type 73) as a School Social Worker or School Counselor 
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in a therapeutic setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills
